​Project Volume: 1 Mid-Century Daybed / Sofa

​1. Project Scope

​In-Scope (What Is Included)

• ​Structural Joinery & Dowel Repair: Complete restoration of the broken structural frame components. This includes extracting the sheared vintage timber dowels, re-boring the dowel tracks, and inserting new heavy-duty hardwood dowels to structurally reconnect the armrest assembly and base frame as pictured.
• ​Daybed Mechanism Assessment: Inspection and servicing of the functional daybed reclining pins, brass pivoting collars, and mechanical slide tracks to ensure a seamless transition from sofa to daybed mode.
• ​Timber Strip & Refinish: Removal of the old finish across the teak and/or blackwood frame and organically sculpted armrests via a professional combination of direct mechanical sanding and delicate hand-sanding. The timber will be completely refinished using a high-quality, Class-1 German Osmo natural oil-wax finish (2 coats of Clear Satin).
• ​Foundation Decking & Component Inspection: Stripping away the degraded original Hessian cover to fully inspect the seat foundation.
  • ​If the existing zig-zag wire springs are structurally sound, flat, and sit perfectly flush without warping, they will be retained and serviced.
  • ​If the wire decking shows sagging or curvature, it will be fully replaced with brand-new, high-density elastic webbing.
  • ​Note: The final price covers either path entirely. A fresh, high-grade Hessian or fabric protective dust cover will be installed directly over the finalized foundation webbing/spring deck.
• ​Backrest Support Replacement: Complete removal of the failed old straps, replaced with brand-new, high-quality rubberized backrest tension straps to restore optimal lean support.
• ​Upholstery & Re-Foaming: Full fabrication of two (2) new long, rectangular cushions based precisely on the original shapes pictured:
  • ​The Backrest: 1 x complete long rectangular cushion, custom-cut from high-grade foam at an 8cm thickness.
  • ​The Seat: 1 x complete long rectangular seat cushion, custom-cut from high-density foam at a 9cm thickness.
  • ​Dacron Wrapping: Both foam cores will be fully wrapped in professional-grade 100gsm Dacron sheeting to soften the cushion profiles, maximize comfort, and prevent fabric friction wear.
  • ​Cushion Design: Minimalist Box Wrap Cushions with clean, standard seams. There is no decorative piping, welting, or accent highlight stitching on the faces or edges.
• ​Fabric Requirements & Sourcing: Approximately 4 to 5 meters of fabric is required for this project. Please factor this material volume into your selection process. You can browse the preferred fabric house collections via the links below:

• ​Our Recommendation & Fabric Invoicing: We highly recommend Sustainable Living Fabrics as they provide an excellent, industry-best blend of quality and value. Entry-level fabric prices typically fluctuate between $40 to $150 per meter depending on the composition selected. Once you have finalized your fabric selection, we will issue a separate invoice directly for the chosen material, which can be paid for immediately to proceed with fabrication.
• ​Logistics: Professional pickup and delivery of the daybed are fully included within this project scope.

​Out-of-Scope (What Is Excluded)

• ​Opaque Lacquer Finishes: Opaque paint, heavy solid lacquers, or full color-blocking lacquer finishes designed to completely hide the timber's natural grain are strictly excluded.
• ​Hidden Timber Defects: Rectification of hidden severe structural wood rot or deep internal frame fractures uncovered only after chemical paint stripping or total teardown is excluded from this quote and will be assessed separately if found.

​2. Timeline

​3. Quality Standards

​Timber Refinishing & Tone Policy

• ​The German Osmo Finish: Our restoration method uses Osmo Polyx-Oil (Made in Germany), globally recognized as the Class-1, ultimate tier-1 finish used by elite professional restorers. This natural oil-wax coating penetrates deep into the wood to provide a hardwearing, dirt- and water-repellent barrier that allows the timber to breathe natively without a plastic film look.
• ​Species & Color Variations: Mid-century frames often feature combinations of high-grade timbers (such as Teak and Blackwood transitions). A clear natural finish will intentionally highlight these distinct tones and gorgeous species variations. This authentic look is highly valued and standard for mid-century design.
• ​Sanding & Surface Prep: Wood surfaces will be meticulously prepared using a calculated combination of professional machine sanding and detailed hand sanding. Surfaces will be taken up through a fine 180 to 240 grit progression prior to oiling to ensure a flawlessly smooth touch.
• ​Character & Defect Management: Professional color-matched timber putty, wax, or custom resin/sawdust combinations will be utilized to seamlessly fill any small-to-medium vintage chips or voids. Due to the aged nature of vintage timber, less than 5% of microscopic, historical surface marks may remain visible underneath the clear Osmo coat.

​4. Pricing

• ​Total Project Cost: Please refer to your personalized Shopify checkout link for final itemized pricing (inclusive of all structural repairs, upholstery labor, foam, and transport labor).
• ​Taxes: All advertised and quoted prices are subject to GST, which will be calculated and applied at checkout.

​5. Terms of Payment

• ​Upfront Fulfilment Requirement: To secure workshop production scheduling, source the specified foam cores, purchase the replacement rubberized straps, and coordinate logistics, payment of the full project amount is required upfront.
• ​Payment Processing: This secure transaction must be completed via one of the approved payment methods listed directly within your provided Shopify checkout link prior to scheduling the pickup. Fabric costs will be handled via a separate, standalone invoice upon material finalization.
