We offer a full suite of furniture restorations including:
- Timber restoration (glue, joints, sanding, finishing and polishing, webbing, structural)
- Upholstery services (cushions, pillows, frames, fabric selection)
You can bring in your own precious items and we can restore them and specialise in MCM (mid century modern) furniture. We provide light restorations (Silver), Full restoration (Gold) and Platinum (the works restoration) of timber and upholstery
LIGHT RESTORATION (Silver Service)
A light restoration for Timber means we clean, light hand sand and use an oil based wax or home brewed Danish oil to finish. A light restoration for Upholstery is new foam, dacron (for round look), and upholstery of fabric on basic rectangle or square cushions only. We also offer professionally dry cleaning of your existing cushions and fabric as an option. These types of restorations are done as the product we sourced is already in good, very good or excellent condition and does not warrant a full restoration. We do the basic checks/tests and clean.
FULL RESTORATION (Gold Service)
A full restoration for Timber entails pulling the item apart, re-gluing if required, filling with putty/wax/ suspected areas, full sand, reupholstering fabric, buying new foam, re-webbing (most likely required), and several coats of oil based wax (in satin) or shellac (semi gloss) finishes. A full restoration for Upholstery is the as light restoration however for more complex furniture which includes moulded pieces, ones with shapes and curves. We have hundreds of fabrics to chose from as well as recommended suppliers. This is usually done if the item is in very poor, poor, or average condition (think about it most MCM furniture fits in this category as they are 50+ years old). All the items that we source privately fit in this category, however a full restoration will last you another 50+ years...we take pride in this as the completed product would be like it was purchased brand new in the era it was built.
THE WORKS RESTORATION (Platinum Service)
This is to get the item to as original condition as possible sourcing original parts where possible. We ensure that even the fastidious yet valued customer that they're getting their item back without a hiccup. Inside and out, cracks, breaks, missing veneer/timber, nuts, bolts, lining, webbing, upholstery, you name it, this is the works
