Eames DCM Chair Mount Remediation & Touch-Up Project

Project Volume: 1 Mid-Century Dining Chair

Material Selection: Black-finished molded plywood panels.

1. Project Scope

In-Scope (What Is Included)

Shock Mount Remediation & Structural Bonding: The primary focus of this project is the complete removal of the failed original rubber shock mounts from the panels. This includes cleaning, leveling, and prepping the raw round bonding footprints on the backrest panel to ensure a pristine structural surface. Brand-new, premium neoprene shock mounts will be structurally bonded using specialized industrial adhesive to safely reassemble and secure the panels back to the frame geometry.

Targeted Surface Touch-Ups: Localized, light cosmetic touch-ups will be executed specifically over the minor scuff marks and raw exposed plywood edges (such as the minor wear along the lower edge profile of the seat pan). These targeted areas will be treated with professional black color-compounding agents to closely reflect and blend into the existing black finish.

Out-of-Scope (What Is Excluded)

Logistics, Pickup & Delivery: Professional transportation, shipping, or vehicle courier logistics are completely excluded from this project scope. Sourcing, handling, and dropping off the chair to the workshop, as well as the collection of the completed piece, must be fully managed and organized by the client.

Frame Maintenance & Metal Cleaning: This scope strictly excludes any treatment, polishing, or chemical detailing of the chrome-plated steel framework. Any maintenance, de-rusting, or cleaning of the metal base is entirely out of scope and would require a separate variation quote if requested by the client.

Full Strip & Refinish: This scope does not include full chemical finish stripping, macro surface sanding, or comprehensive spray/oil re-coating of the black panels. This is a targeted remediation and blending service, not a total timber frame overhaul.

Seamless Factory Finish Match: While black is a highly effective tone for blending and concealing dings, localized touch-ups are designed to closely reflect the existing aged lacquer. This service does not guarantee a 100% factory-level sheen or texture match across the entire chair, which would otherwise require an optional full restoration package at an additional cost.

2. Timeline

Estimated Completion: Late July / Early August 2026.

3. Quality Standards

Localized Remediation & Character Policy

The Touch-Up Approach: Rather than masking the chair's entire vintage history under heavy new coats, we intentionally preserve the authentic aged finish of the black lacquer. Localized touch-ups will level out raw timber highlights where chips have occurred, significantly minimizing their visual impact.

Sanding & Surface Prep Constraints: Mechanical machine block sanding is completely omitted from this project to protect the surrounding original black finish. Prep work is strictly restricted to microscopic micro-abrasion over the loose scuff zones and the chemical clearing of the old adhesive footprints prior to regluing.

Character Policy: Historical surface patina, faint surface character lines, and microscopic finish variations outside of the direct touch-up treatment zones will remain natively intact.

4. Pricing

Total Project Cost: $750.00

Taxes: All advertised and quoted prices are subject to GST ($75.00), which will be calculated and applied at checkout.

5. Terms of Payment

Upfront Fulfilment Requirement: To secure workshop production scheduling, source the specified bonding agents, and order incoming replacement neoprene shock mounts, payment of the full project amount is required upfront.

Payment Processing: This secure transaction must be completed via one of the approved payment methods listed directly within your provided Shopify checkout link prior to scheduling the drop-off.
