1. Item Description & Condition Assessment
-
Item 1: Original Mid-Century Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman (Herman Miller?)
-
Description: Mid-century original molded timber plywood lounge chair and matching ottoman (suspected walnut or teak) with black leather upholstery and die-cast aluminum bases.
-
Condition Assessment: Timber shells exhibit notable UV degradation, localized sun-fading, and failing factory lacquer. Rubber shock mounts remain vulcanized but may require preventive stabilization against age-related shear fatigue. The seat cushion displays one loose tufting button and one backing clip disengaging from the one of the molded shells. Upholstery displays authentic surface patina and softening, with no foam core collapse.
-
-
Item 2: Zuster Large Waterfall Dining Table (1600mm x 2400mm)
-
Description: Solid timber and architectural veneer large dining table featuring substantial waterfall end legs.
-
Condition Assessment: The expansive tabletop shows widespread ambering, finish breakdown, localized moisture rings, and light wear across high-contact areas. Leg profiles and return edges require tone unification.
-
-
Item 3: Original Mid-Century Eames Molded Plywood Coffee Table (CTW)
-
Description: Low circular molded plywood coffee table with dished molded top and bent plywood legs.
-
Condition Assessment: Finish failure on the top surface with prominent beverage rings, surface water staining, and localized discoloration penetrating the top film layer. Substrate structure remains stable.
-

4. Technical Specifications & Material Standards
-
Timber Finishing: Micro-porous, hard-wearing Class-1 natural oil and wax systems (Osmo Polyx-Oil). Finishes will not crack, flake, peel, or blister and remain resistant to liquid spills once cured.
-
Color & Tinting: Transparent Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints applied directly to raw, open timber pores. Swatches to be sampled on an inconspicuous underside area for customer review and sign-off prior to final sealing.
-
Graining & Surface Repairs: Color-matched fine graining pigments and resin fills for seamless localized surface touch-ups.
-
Structural Bonding: Industrial-grade elastomeric structural adhesive bonding agent formulated specifically for rubber shock mount interfaces.
- Important Note on Our Timber Finish: Please note that for the timber restoration, we do not perform a like-for-like factory lacquer replacement. Instead, we use a premium, natural Osmo hardwax oil finish. Traditional lacquers sit on top of the veneer like a hard, synthetic film, which can feel plastic-like and is prone to cracking or chipping over time. Our natural oil-wax technique penetrates deeply to nourish the wood from within, while leaving a breathable, protective wax layer on the surface. Visually, this creates a much richer, organic appearance that highlights the natural depth of the grain. Tactilely, the chair will feel warm and like real, raw timber rather than a manufactured coating. It also ages beautifully and is much easier to maintain or spot-repair in the future.
5. Assumptions & Client Dependencies
-
Substrate Integrity: Molded plywood layers and underlying timber core remain structurally intact with no unglued delamination between veneer plies.
-
Leather State: Client accepts that original leather is retained in its present condition with natural aged patina and established surface character.
-
Sampling Protocol: Test swatches of the Osmo tint options will be applied to an inconspicuous underside area out of direct line of sight for client review and selection.
-
Access & Logistics: Standard single-run ground or elevator access available at both the pick-up and delivery addresses.
6. Estimated Time Frame & Delivery Phasing
-
Workshop Bench Duration: Approximately 4 to 6 weeks from bench induction.
-
Phasing & Storage: All three items collected concurrently in one single pick-up run. Completed items held in secure, climate-managed storage at our workshop and available for staged release or full delivery into the new home through to April.
