A genuine pair of 1950s Van Treight lowline armchairs. We are unsure of the wood grain/type it's either blackwood or teak and has colors/mix of brown and red throughout (stained in merbau) and oil waxed for durable finish. Re-upholstered Fibreguard fabric from Zepel in the Mingle Mangle range (Flax) has a beautiful brown, greys and beige interwoven 100% PL fabric. These are so comfortable to sit on, the wood frame is light, however the cushions are heavy (we kept the original shredded fabric vs newer foam) and low seating makes it ideal for any room. Beautiful curves, nice buttons on the legs and smooth paddles for the armrest this pair is a delight to look at. The seat comfort is high density (firm to very firm) but amazing to sit on.

Please note there is an option to reupholster to new fabric/color of your choice however this will be an additional cost.

This rare and beautiful set of armchairs from VT from the 1950s is getting rarer by the day get yourself a piece of Australian history. An excellent addition to any Collector's living area.

Cosmetic Condition:

Very good condition for its age from the 50s. As the fabric is new there are no rips in the fabric, this wood and frame has been thoroughly cleaned, restored sanded several times, stained in merbau color (brown with hints of red color) and oil waxed for durable finish.

Given the chairs are 70 years old several sections of the frame were deconstructed then reglued, leaving some signs on rear and front joints, however is hardly noticeable as these have been covered with puddy, only on close inspection (on the front fascia and back) and removal of the cushions. One of the chairs is 7/10 the other is 8/10 with the aforementioned parts (refer to pictures on website for more detailed views). Structurally however these are very sound so don't let the appearance be a deterent

This has been restored (with all marks and chips being filled with the closest color to the wax color), then sanded several times of different grits, in between several layers of oil based wax for longer durable wear. Please note that all gaps filled will show areas of difference between wood grain and puddy, however these are only noticeable on close inspection and blends in nicely with oil and wax color.

Functional Condition:
8/10
Excellent, functionally no wobbles or warping in the wood, sturdy and strong including the slats (springs) for the cushions and seating. As described in the cosmetic condition section several sections of the frame have been reglued, with one of the chairs has metal bracket out the back for additional strength.
